Giteki checker — Japan radio certification, searchable in English
Every Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular device used in Japan must hold radio-law certification (技適). This tool searches the official MIC database (351671 records) — and unlike the official site, it understands English brand names: try Anker, TP-Link or a certification number like 210-163545.

No match in the certification register is a red flag. If this device transmits radio (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular…), using it in Japan without 技適 certification violates the Radio Act — and as the importer or seller you'd be shipping a product your customers cannot legally use.
Before giving up: try the Japanese brand name (e.g. ソニー for Sony), the manufacturer rather than the reseller, or the FCC-style model code printed on the label. Certification often sits with the radio-module maker, not the device brand.
